A complete, mobile cobot welding cell. The Dobot All-in-One Welding Solution puts a Dobot CR10A collaborative robot on Dobot's mobile welding platform, ready for your MIG/MAG welding set. Wheel it to the job, teach a weld with four points on a tablet and let the cobot lay consistent welds, batch after batch. It suits small-batch, high-mix fabrication: steel structures, frames, brackets, hardware parts and vessels.

Supplied on quotation. Prices start from £27,199 ex VAT for the CR10A cobot and the mobile welding platform. We build the rest of the cell around your welding machine and parts and send you a full quotation.

What the starting price includes

  • Dobot CR10A collaborative robot (part no. 1200000189): 6 axes, 10 kg payload, 1,300 mm reach, ±0.03 mm repeatability.
  • Dobot mobile welding platform (part no. 1300000564): a steel welding table on castors with levelling feet, weighing about 40 kg. The table top has evenly spaced threaded holes, so you can fix the cobot and your clamps in any position. It comes with the electrical components, the robot control box and welding control box built into the frame, mounting plates for your wire feeder and wire reel, a fixture and a cable hook.
  • Dobot Welding Process Package: the welding software in DobotStudio Pro. You pick your welding machine brand, set the welding parameters and build the weld with blocky programming. No coding is needed.

Not included: supply your own or we quote them

  • Welding power source, wire feeder, robot welding torch and welding wire. Dobot marks these "integrate by user". Use the welding set you already have if it is compatible (see the list below), or we can quote a matched package.
  • Shielding gas, cylinder and regulator.
  • Options: laser seam sensor for laser positioning and laser tracking, torque sensor, gateways, protective gear.
  • Delivery, installation and on-site training: quoted to suit your site.

Why weld with a cobot?

  • Easy to use. Plug-and-play set-up, quick configuration and blocky programming on a tablet. Operators without robot experience can set up a weld in four points.
  • Flexible switching. The light platform has a small footprint and moves between stations, even in tight spaces. It is ideal for changing jobs and short runs.
  • Consistent quality. Every weld follows the same path, speed and parameters, which cuts rework. It also helps where skilled welders are hard to find.
  • Safe collaboration. A PLd Cat. 3 safety controller with 20+ safety functions and 5-level collision detection. The robot is certified to EN ISO 13849-1, EN ISO 13849-2 and EN ISO 10218-1, so it can work beside people without a safety fence, subject to your risk assessment. Its electromagnetic brakes stop it within 18 ms and hold position within 1 mm.

Set up a weld in 4 points

  1. Set the approach point A, where the torch comes in to weld.
  2. Set the starting point B, where the arc turns on.
  3. Set the ending point D, where the arc turns off. Point C is an optional turning point.
  4. Set the exit point E, where the torch moves away.

Straight lines, arcs and circles are set up directly with blocky programming.

Welding functions in the Dobot Welding Process Package

  • Weaving (arc oscillation) with no programming: sawtooth, spiral, trapezoid, sine, crescent and triangle patterns. You can set the amplitude, frequency, left and right dwell time and start direction.
  • Multi-layer, multi-pass welding for thick plate. It repeats passes to fill wide weld seams.
  • Touch positioning (wire touch sensing). It finds the real position of a misplaced part and corrects the weld points. It works in 1D, 2D, 2D+, 3D, 3D+ and on inner or outer diameters.
  • TAST through-arc seam tracking. In thick plate welding it follows the seam using the welding current, compensating for misalignment and heat distortion.
  • Laser positioning and laser tracking, with the optional laser sensor. These are for short seams, long and large parts, and heat-sensitive or distorted parts.
  • Intermittent (stitch) welding. It stores points quickly and reduces heat distortion.
  • Arc retry and arc restart. If rust or oxide stops the arc striking, it tries again. If the wire, gas or machine interrupts the weld, it restarts and finishes it.
  • Multi-task scheduling. One cobot runs several welding jobs one after another.
  • Manual and set-up functions: wire feed, wire back, gas check, simulated run (dry run), spot welding, drag-to-teach, saved points, anti-collision torch support, wire positioning, wire-stick removal and a welding process library.
  • Laser welding is supported with a compatible laser welding source.
  • TCP/IP secondary development. You can write your own welding software, with commands for welding speed, weaving, multi-pass, tracking and offsets, pause and resume, and live machine status.

Works with your welding machine

The welding process package is set up for 15+ leading welding machine brands: Fronius, EWM, Lincoln Electric (Digiwave and Powerwave), OTC Daihen, Panasonic, Lorch, Megmeet, Aotai, Flama, Hypertherm, Miller, GYS, Kemppi, ESAB, CLOOS and SKS. Other machines can be connected through analogue I/O. Four communication methods are supported: DeviceNet, EtherNet/IP, Modbus and analogue. Tell us your machine and we will confirm it works before you order.

Other set-ups on request

  • Dobot Mobile Magnetic Welding Solution: a CRA cobot on a magnetic base that sits directly on large steel workpieces. It suits non-standard and one-off parts.
  • Other CRA cobots: payloads from 3 kg to 20 kg and reaches from 620 mm to 1,700 mm. The CR10A with SafeSkin (CR10AS) is also available.
  • Already have a CRA cobot? The mobile welding platform is also sold on its own.

In use

Dobot welding cobots work in shipbuilding, steel structures, bed and machine frames, and carbon steel fabrication. In one Dobot case study, a steel structure maker whose products need more than 200 welds each replaced manual welding with 10 Dobot cobots. Now 2–3 staff run production around the clock, and flatness and consistency have improved.

Support
